Rural tourism is a form of tourism that allows visitors to experience rural life, local culture, traditions, and nature. It includes accommodation in rural areas, local food experiences, participation in agricultural activities, and active recreation in natural environments.
Armenia, with its diverse landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and unique rural identity, has strong potential for the development of rural tourism. This sector plays an important role not only in advancing tourism but also in stimulating economic activity in rural communities and increasing local incomes.
Rural tourism promotes the efficient use of local resources while preserving the environment, biodiversity, and cultural values. It creates new jobs, supports the development of small businesses, and contributes to the sustainable development of communities.
About the Project
The Rural Tourism Development Project was launched in 2018.
Since 2026, the project continues to be financed by NABU and ACBA Federation, while it is implemented by the Armenian Association “For People and Nature” (FPAN).

Today, the project includes more than 30 beneficiaries across Armenia.
More than 500 people have participated in trainings conducted within the framework of the project.
Over 50 international tour agencies, bloggers, and journalists have visited Armenia to explore the country’s rural tourism potential.
