Eagle and Vultures Conservation in Armenia

The project “Eagle and Vultures Conservation in Armenia” aims to support the protection, monitoring, and rehabilitation of birds of prey, with a particular focus on eagles and vultures. These species play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance and biodiversity.

The project focuses on strengthening monitoring systems, expanding research coverage, and ensuring effective tracking and protection of birds across Armenia.


About the Project

The project is financed by NABU and implemented by “For People and Nature” Armenian Association (FPAN).

Project activities are carried out across different regions of Armenia, ensuring continuous development of monitoring and research efforts.


Main Activities

  • Maintenance and installation of tracking devices on birds
  • Management of SIM cards and data transmission for active trackers
  • Monitoring and research activities across different regions of Armenia
  • Collection and analysis of tracking data using systems such as Ornitel and Aquila
  • Rehabilitation of injured birds, including veterinary care, treatment, and release when possible

Project Scope

Currently, around 15 active tracking devices are operating and transmitting data from different regions. Monitoring is being conducted across Armenia with continuous expansion of coverage.


Results

The project contributes to the conservation of key bird species, strengthens scientific capacity, and supports biodiversity protection efforts throughout Armenia.
