Organic agriculture is a specific type of agricultural activity that is in harmony with agro-ecosystems and is implemented in accordance with established technical regulations and standards.
Organic agricultural products include plant- and animal-based products and raw materials produced or processed using organic methods, as well as wild plants. At all stages of production and distribution, the requirements defined by technical regulations are strictly followed.
For organic agriculture, it is essential to use land that has been free from chemical inputs for several years. The use of organic fertilizers such as manure, biohumus, and poultry manure improves soil structure, enriches it with organic matter, and increases its fertility.
Organic agriculture enables the efficient use of natural resources while preserving the environment and biodiversity. Organic products often have higher nutritional value compared to conventionally produced goods, and global demand for them continues to grow.
About the Project
The Organic Agriculture Development Project was launched in 2015 by NABU and ACBA Bank.
Since 2026, following the closure of NABU’s branch in Armenia, the project has been transferred to “For People and Nature” Armenian Association (FPAN), which continues its implementation in cooperation with ACBA Bank.
Today, the project includes more than 100 beneficiaries across Armenia.
Project Objectives
- Support organic producers in Armenia
- Help conventional farmers transition to organic agriculture
- Develop business connections and facilitate access to international markets
- Promote organic products and increase their visibility and consumption in Armenia
Within the framework of the project, the winners of the announced competition—organizations, farmers, and agricultural producers—are given the opportunity to obtain organic certification through co-financing and significantly expand the export potential of their products.
