About the Project

Nature Conservation and Sustainable Income Opportunities

The project "Sustainable Development of Buffer Zones of Specially Protected Nature Areas and Poverty Reduction in Rural Communities" is being implemented in 19 rural settlements of the Vayk and Jermuk communities in the Vayots Dzor region.

The project aims to promote the sustainable development of buffer zones around protected areas in the Vayots Dzor region, particularly the Her-Her Sanctuary, as well as Jermuk National Park and other environmentally significant areas in the region, by ensuring responsible management of natural resources, biodiversity conservation, and the socio-economic development of rural communities. The project fosters the creation of alternative income opportunities, the economic empowerment of women and vulnerable groups, community capacity building, and the promotion of environmental and ecotourism initiatives.

The project brings together environmental, economic, and social development activities, creating long-term and practical solutions for the communities.
