About the Meeting
During the kickoff meeting, the project's goals, key focus areas, planned activities, target settlements, expected results, and implementation timeline will be presented.
Participants will learn about the training sessions, consultation meetings, and environmental and socio-economic activities planned under the project, as well as opportunities to participate in and register for them.
Nature Conservation and Sustainable Income Opportunities
The project "Sustainable Development of Buffer Zones of Specially Protected Nature Areas and Poverty Reduction in Rural Communities" is being implemented in 19 rural settlements of the Vayk and Jermuk communities in the Vayots Dzor region.
The project aims to promote the sustainable development of buffer zones around protected areas in the Vayots Dzor region, particularly the Her-Her Sanctuary, as well as Jermuk National Park and other environmentally significant areas in the region, by ensuring responsible management of natural resources, biodiversity conservation, and the socio-economic development of rural communities. The project fosters the creation of alternative income opportunities, the economic empowerment of women and vulnerable groups, community capacity building, and the promotion of environmental and ecotourism initiatives.
The project brings together environmental, economic, and social development activities, creating long-term and practical solutions for the communities.

Purpose of the Meeting
To present the project's structure, upcoming activities, and participation opportunities, and to create a direct communication platform between the project team, community residents, partner organizations, and stakeholders.

The meeting is open to residents of the project's communities, farmers, cooperatives, small enterprises, women and young people, representatives of displaced families, state and community institutions, civil society organizations, and other individuals interested in the project.

Funding and Implementation
The project was initiated by the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union of Germany (NABU)and is being implemented with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and AKBA Bank .
In Armenia, the project is implemented by the Armenian Association "For the Sake of Humanity and Nature" (FPAN) and the "Eco-Glob" environmental NGO .
