International Vulture Awareness Day – Join the Educational Month

The first Saturday of September marks International Vulture Awareness Day, aimed at raising global awareness about vultures — unique birds that play a crucial role in ecosystems by removing organic waste and preventing disease outbreaks.

Within the framework of the FPAN “Rural Tourism Development” program, we are joining this international initiative and launching a Vulture Awareness Month filled with educational and outreach activities across schools, public venues, and online platforms.

Our goals:

  • Increase knowledge about vulture species, their habitat, and behavior,

  • Prevent cases of neglect and vandalism against wildlife,

  • Encourage care and respect toward nature among the younger generation.

📌 Throughout this month, our Facebook page will share engaging materials — facts, photos, videos, and insights about Armenia’s vultures. You are also welcome to send your original content (photos, drawings, videos, stories, etc.). Selected entries will be featured on our page and awarded prizes.

📚 Our team will also deliver educational sessions in various schools under the title “Vultures of Armenia”, during which we will announce a competition for the best drawing or story. Winners will be invited to join a special birdwatching trip with our team.

📣 The initiative will conclude with a public lecture and a birdwatching event — more details coming soon on our Facebook page.

We are happy to hear your ideas and look forward to your active participation. Together, let’s protect these vital birds and foster environmental stewardship.
