In today’s world, where human impact on nature is increasing by the day, ecological education and environmental awareness have become more essential than ever. Involving the younger generation in the protection of biodiversity is a key step toward long-term sustainability.
Within the framework of the FPAN “Rural Tourism Development” program, a new awareness campaign titled “Baze” has been launched in regional schools of Armenia. This initiative is aimed at promoting knowledge and interest among students about bird species listed in the Red Book of Armenia — especially birds of prey such as the falcon (bazé in Armenian).
📌 Key components of the program include:
Educational sessions focused on endangered bird species,
Discussions on Armenia’s biodiversity and the need to protect local ecosystems,
Creative contests (drawing, storytelling, bird observation diaries),
Thematic environmental events involving students and local communities.
📚 The “Baze” initiative is designed to develop ecological thinking in students and instill a caring attitude toward nature. The falcon here symbolizes not just a species in need of protection, but also a young learner — observant, sharp, and eager to make a difference.
The program also envisions future nature camps, field trips, and expert meetings to provide students with practical environmental education.
